Visited Rosario's Restaurant at lunch time today as part of a kgb deal. We were warmly greeted and were made to feel welcome. Our meal was excellent, I had spaghetti Bolognaise and my husband had the Spaghetti Al Funghi which was not on the menu but was made specially for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will return for an evening meal in the near future.
Even thou we went mid week there was a good atmosphere. Service was quick, efficient and always had a smile. Also really enjoyed the food, one of the better italian meals i have had. if they keep up the good work that i saw on my visit then i am not sure why anyone would complain
Tonight we visited Rosario's and will probably echo a mixture of the reviews already placed here... Staff friendly but once you have had one drink that's your lot...noone checked back to see if we would like anything else. The food was average and missing the little touches you would often find in a good italian restaurant, such as freshley ground black pepper or parmesan on your pasta. The Groupon deal has been extremeley popular and the majority of tonights diners were there as part of the deal. I am sure the whole idea of appearing on Groupon is to showcase your cusine to impress new diners and make sure you get repeat business......just a little more attention to detail is required.
Could'nt fault the meal and restaurant I will be back!
Myself and my family went to Rosarios for a lovely meal. I don't think there was anything that I could complain about apart from being to full at the end. Portions are big ( which better to have more than less I feel) the pizzas looked superb, hand-made and traditional! Great value for money! And I couldn't fault the staff- welcoming and friendly!
The food was tasty and stayed hot. Portion sizes are good. Atmosphere was enjoyable, the decor was contremporary. The only improvement would be the staff, one waitress was very friendly as one would expect but the two other girls were not so. Some training on attitude and customer service can easily rectify this. However young brunette who does not work wkends should train the other two x : ) Overall I would recommend this restaurants. Dishes ordered by our group ranged included penne pasta, pizzas and seabass was the most very nice!
We had heard mixed reports about Rosario's but when the Groupon deal came up we decided to give it a try. First impressions were OK in that the decor is quite smart in a minimalist way, and the young staff were friendly. However, the Groupon menu is not the usual one and therefore the choice of dishes is smaller - although still a reasonable selection to be fair. When we were seated the first thing we were asked by the waiter was, did we want our free drinks ? (part of the deal). Rather like being pointed out to other diners as a charity case I felt, although I'm sure this was not meant that way - just inexperience and lack of training I'd say. We ordered drinks, which took quite a while to arrive. The waiter didn't offer to open our wine, which I thought was a bit off. Again, we weren't being victimised as the people at the next table, who weren't on the Groupon deal, were treted the same way. Starters then arrived. Meatballs, which I had were OK, although only three of them. Mushrooms were as described by a previous reviewer - like a bowl of soup, again containing very little of the advertised main ingredient - mushrooms. Then the mains, three steaks and a sea bass. Small portions and we all agreed nothing to write home about. All cold too, even the plates hadn't been warmed. By this time the men had finished their beers but nobody asked if we wanted more drinks. I finally asked the waitress clearing the next table if she could get someone to take a drinks order. The young waiter appeared after five minutes and the drinks ten minutes after that. The place actually wasn't that busy. Desserts then. Only two choices for us -panna cotta or tiramasu. we had two of each. The panna cotta was OK (although a tiny portion at £4.50 on the menu) but the ladies were unimpressed by the tiramasu, which they felt was watery and tasteless. Coffees finished off a poorish evening. With the offer price plus drinks the evening cost as much as a good pub restaurant meal, which I would have much preferred. It's a great shame that this place seems to get it so wrong. The setting is nice, and they are fortunate in having very pleasant young staff (who we were happy to tip as it isn't their fault nobody's managing the place). And what it does seem to lack entirely is anyone managing the basics. We should not have been asked about "free" drinks which we had paid for, or have had to wait for drinks - tables were being set for the next day while we were being ignored. Food should not be served cold. Presumably opting for the Groupon offer was to get people through the door, to show what the place can do, and to have these same people return as regulars. Sadly, that opportunity wasn't taken and we won't be back. This place could be really nice but if last night's performance is typical I can't see it lasting long. Somebody needs to grasp the management role - teach the pleasant young staff a bit - tell them to keep an eye out for customers - they might after all be wanting to spend some more money! Don't set tables whilst customers are ignored. When you bring new drinks don't leave the used glasses on the table. It isn't brain surgery.
The worst meal I have ever had. I am only giving it one star as I have to. We arrived at the restaurant and the decor looked nice so first impressions were good. However, having sat at our table for 20 minutes and having no one take our drinks order we started to become a bit frustrated. When finally someone took our drinks order we asked to order the food too and were told that we would need to wait as the kitchen were not accepting more orders until they had cleared some others! Approximately 30 minutes after arriving we finally managed to order our food - we were starving! We were told that they were short on kitchen staff and therefore there were a few delays. Oh lovely. My starter of mushrooms in a garlic and cream was basically a bowl of cream with a few undercooked mushrooms floating on the bottom and some bread which was starting to get a stale feel about it on the side. It was more like a cream of mushroom soup! My companions starters were just as bad, the meatball sauce was bland I was told and there was too much sauce also, the meatballs floating on the bottom. We also ordered garlic bread which was undercooked and doughy. Moving on to the mains, the experience got even worse. My pasta arrebiata was the worst meal I have ever been served in a restaurant. Overcooked pasta that was floating in the tomato sauce which was brimming to the top of the bowl. I tried it and it tasted like a can of chopped tomatoes heated up. No taste whatsoever and soggy pasta. I sent it back. I couldn't eat it. My husbands steak was apparently ok, and my other companions also experienced bland tastless food too. I was asked what I wanted to swap my main course for, I had to restrain myself not to say a proper cooked pasta dish! By the time the waitress reappeared again she asked me what I wanted to order instead and I asked for the Seabass instead only to be told that it was all gone! AGH! By this time the rest of my table had nearly finished their meal so I ordered a bowl of chips (which weren't brilliant I have to say but filled a hole). Moving on to deserts, it was very hard to mess up ice cream and espresso coffee but one of our party had panna cotta - it wasn't a good example. Everyone else on the table decided not to have a desert and have coffee instead - although the coffee turned up 15 minutes later - although it was undrinkable - our filter coffees were strong espressos (you would have had to pick us up from the ceiling if we drank them!) and the espressos were more like filter coffee in the bottom of a coffee cup! In summary, we will not be going back - not even if someone paid us - and my stomach churned all night and I felt queasy. No idea why but it was the worst example of a restaurant, ever.
staff give you a warm welcome and a friendly smile, they r helpful and trained well, rosario himself is approachable and welcoming, this is the third time we have eaten here and the food is consistantly good, hot, fresh, and appetising, and the cheesecake is to die for! wonderful! x
